Leadership and Ideas for Oregon:

Oregon’s short term vision of our future has led to the government protecting the government from the People. 40 years of “Spend now, pay later, tax more” has only increased the size of government causing the current leadership to work outside the Constitution to govern Oregon. Our future is being consumed by a government that can’t see past what government wants to spend your tax dollars on today.

Issues:

Are the People of Tigard safe? Legislation is needed to prevent elected office holders from being able to selectively enforce the law. High density housing and Light Rail are lighting a fuse to exploding crime rates. Why build such things that destroy the livability of Tigard? The People want safety and reliable funding for the Police.

The real problem with PERS: The Judicial Branch of government is protecting their PERS retirement before protecting the Constitution from government misconduct and overreach. The People need the entire Judicial Branch off of PERS. Judges will protect their retirement before they protect the People.

Public Education in Oregon has been destroyed. We must use a Voucher system that will allow Parents to decide the type and quality of education they want for their children. Vouchers for School Choice, special needs, and Charter Schools are what the People want.

PERS itself: A commitment was made to government employees for a retirement pension. I stand for making sure that that commitment is kept. Legislation must be made to fund that commitment so employee control over their future instead of future governments looking at your retirement as a source of money to spend.

A vote for Bob Niemeyer is a vote for Safety, Protecting the People from government, common sense, and limiting government to what they are supposed to do.

Chris Gorsek

I’m an educator, a dad, a grandfather, and a former police officer and that is what drives me as a Representative. My wife Jackie and our family have called Troutdale home for the last 2 decades.

I have been teaching geography and law enforcement at Mount Hood Community College since 1996. I also served as a police officer with the Portland Police Bureau for seven years where I patrolled neighborhoods on the east side of Portland.

As a legislator, I’m using the experience I have gained throughout my life to improve, reform and strengthen our communities and district.

– Mark Simmons, Former Republican Speaker of the House

STANDING UP FOR STUDENTS & PARENTS

Christine Drazan is a mother of three who cares about our kids and their future. Christine will keep our schools open full time and in person and restore graduation requirements. She will establish a Parents’ Bill of Rights to give parents a voice in their kids’ education, provide more school choice, and get political agendas out of the classroom so our kids can learn how to think, not what to think.

SUPPORTING POLICE & HOLDING CRIMINALS ACCOUNTABLE

“As the House Republican leader, Christine Drazan was instrumental in protecting our law enforcement community from legislation that would have undermined our ability to protect and serve Oregonians. She is a champion for public safety and a tremendous advocate for our law enforcement officers.”

CUTTING TAXES & REDUCING COST OF LIVING

Inflation and the cost of living are pushing family budgets to the brink. As governor, Christine will end the mandates and regulations that are crushing our small businesses and work to cut taxes for everyday Oregonians.

Occupation: Professional Firefighter/Paramedic, State Representative

Occupational Background: Emergency Management, Educator

Educational Background: B.S., Homeland Security/Emergency Management, Concordia University; Columbia University

Prior Governmental Experience: West Portland Town Center Citizen Advisory Group, Oregon Seismic Policy Advisory Committee, PCP

Together, We Redefine Possible

As a firefighter/ paramedic and your representative in Salem, I have the honor of serving our community in many ways. These past two years have brought new meaning to our collective challenges. As your representative, I’m proud of the work we’re doing together to help meet these challenges – and to rebuild from them.

As your State Representative, I champion what matters most.

Whether it’s driving down the cost of living, supporting small businesses and working families, addressing homelessness, or building stronger schools and communities, I lead with bravery, compassion, and determination. I fight to keep Oregon a leader in reproductive rights, meaningful community safety and gun violence prevention, and for working families… and I’m not done yet.

We can and must do more to keep Oregon green. Combating the effects of climate change is the reality of my work as a Firefighter and Representative. I worked to pass legislation to curb wildfires and the impacts of climate change.

Everyone deserves a safe place to call home. I secured funding to get struggling Oregonians into housing and shelter, connected to critical support services, and towards homeownership. We all deserve healthy, vibrant communities.

We need a fair economy for all. I championed investing in skills training, protecting workers, reducing barriers to growing small businesses, and requiring corporations pay their fair share.

For a strong future, we need strong schools. I supported record school funding ensuring our teachers, students, and schools have the resources, support, and staffing they need for success.

Dan Rayfield

Like most people, the issues that drive and motivate me were shaped over time by many different experiences throughout my life. At a young age, the contrasting parenting styles and perspectives of my mother and father had a significant impact on my worldviews. My mother was an activist and small business owner that reveled in dragging her young and often unwilling son to events promoting progressive causes. My father, on the other hand, was a former Colonel in the Air Force Reserve and a senior vice president of a commercial insurance company. Needless to say, they had entirely different perspectives on life and politics. This dynamic forced me to quickly rationalize how two good people can have vastly different outlooks in life.

Growing up in Oregon, my views were also significantly shaped by my experiences as a student in our public school system. As a child, I saw firsthand the divestment in our K-12 education system. At Western Oregon University as an undergraduate student, I personally experienced the increasing costs of higher education. After graduating from Willamette University College of Law in 2006, I then faced the all too common struggle of starting out in life with significant student loan debt.

As an attorney, I represent individuals with consumer and civil rights cases against large corporations, insurance companies, and other bad actors. Being a partner in our law firm also means I must navigate the practicalities of owning and operating a small business. Fighting for the “little guy” while also maintaining a fiscally sound business has given me great satisfaction but has also deepened my appreciation for anyone that strikes out on their own to start a business.

While many experiences that shape us occur when we are younger, being a parent later in life has given me a sense of urgency to find solutions for the many problems we face here in Oregon. In my life I have benefitted from having a supportive family, reliable health care, and a good education. I am committed to pursuing policies that will ensure everyone has the same opportunities that I had growing up.
