Community

I have lived and worked in Senate District 11 since I moved to Four Corners in Salem in 1978. I have taught at Highland and Grant Elementary Schools and Whittaker Middle School. I have lived in Keizer and both the North Salem and McKay High areas before moving to Woodburn.

Having spent the majority of my career in bilingual schools, I am fluent in Spanish (and English still). It was a career dedicated to empowering students and families to be proud of who they are while seeing themselves as integral and contributing members of our community.

Leadership

As Mayor of Woodburn I brought people together from all across the political spectrum to work through the many difficulties we faced the past two years and I will bring that work to the state senate. In America we should all be able to speak out about the issues we strongly believe in – while preserving the dignity of those who may oppose our views.

Commitment

In that spirit, I will bring my own strongly held beliefs about preserving and sustaining our precious and precarious environment, the need for all people to have affordable housing and health care, and an education system that helps all students flourish.

Dear Constituent,

I am a small family farmer with a working knowledge of public health. I cherish the Unites States of America and believe in our Founding Fathers’ vision. I commit that the United States Constitution, the Oregon Constitution and the voices of our community will serve as my guiding lights. As your state senator I will:

  • Champion forest management and development practices that drive our local economy (timber/tourism/recreational) and mitigate forest fire risk.
  • Fight for access to high quality physical and mental healthcare (including medical transportation) for our constituents.
  • Drive legislation for enhanced community resilience and disaster assistance funding locally.
  • Innovate new partnerships to stabilize local food prices. We need to give our local farmers and communities a chance to fight the rising cost of food and streghthen our local economy.
  • Support advanced and vocational educational opportunities. Focus on reducing screentime and increasing physically active opportunities for youth.
  • Work to require social media companies to be subject to a fee for Oregon advertising “clicks.” This can fund expanding the Oregon Outdoor School.
  • Dedicate myself to supporting our Active Duty and Veteran populations, with a focus on Military Exposure Heath.

As your State Senator I will fight for your issues and successfully pass legislative priorities for district 26. I will listen to your voices and reflect the values of our district in my decision making. I believe that trust is born of consistency, honesty, and accountability. With trust one can lead.

District 26 deserves a leader skilled in facing change and uncertainty, who brings people together. Raz Mason is that leader:

  • Educator (math, science, career/technical, English, social studies).
  • Hospital chaplain for veterans and others under stress.
  • Climate change educator focused on communities adapting to extreme weather.

Her thoughtfulness, integrity, and compassion come from a life of facing challenges and being of service.

Priorities:

  • Climate change: District 26 has faced heatwave (2021), deepening drought, and devastating wildfires (Clackamas County, 2020). Key: reducing/reversing carbon use, protecting agriculture, and lifestyle changes to save energy and water. Climate courage.
  • Healthy economy: Economic challenges worsened by COVID are rooted in laws putting corporate profits above wellbeing of people, nature, and communities. A healthy economy includes affordable housing and services/industries of the future.
  • Healthcare: Affordable and accessible, helping veterans, and including holistic care.
  • Public safety: Community-based law enforcement and mental health services.
  • Education: Strengthen bonds between educators, schools, and communities.
  • Agriculture/timber: Support small- and medium-sized producers.

ABOUT WENDY

I am a graduate of OSU with a major in mathematics and a minor in psychology. I have been in the financial world since 1992. At times I worked several jobs to get through college. I am a fighter and a survivor winning the cancer battle twice. My son’s sports brought back my love for them and soon found me coaching multiple youth sports which continued over a decade. As well as volunteering on sports boards, and PTA (past treasurer).
With my husband of 29 years, we are raising our teenage son.

FIGHTING FOR OREGON

Traditional Oregon values, parent’s rights, educational excellence, and keeping our medical profile private, are all important to me. It is time to address the homeless population. It is time to get people back to work and reduce state spending.

WORKING FOR REDUCING TAXES

Oregon has property tax, income tax, and now a hidden sales tax (CAT), causing friends and family to leave this beautiful state. Oregon is too expensive. I will work to reduce spending and lower the need for excessive taxes. Audit all funds to ensure project monies are being utilized as intended and cut government waste.
All tax increases should be a vote of the people, not a signature on an Executive Order.

PROTECTING THE CONSTITUTION

The freedoms secured to us by the Constitution an Bill of Rights are what I stand for. It is time to bring common sense back to the table and the will of the people, not career politicians, to the forefront. Medical freedom includes all things medical remaining private.

Educational Background: BA in Elementary Education, cum laude; University of Portland

Prior Governmental Experience: None

Family: I have been married for 31 years to my husband, a native Oregonian. My husband and I have two grown daughters.

Kim Rice for Senate District 18

Our families, businesses, and communities have been increasingly negatively impacted by progressive leftist policies. Oregonians deserve better. I am running because I care about our families and this beautiful state. Simply put, I will provide balance against government overreach and mandates. In these last two years have I have seen people come together to protect our God-given inalienable rights. People want leaders who will stand up to the agendas that infringe on our rights.

I support:

  • Liberty and personal freedoms for all. No mandates!
  • Parents and their rights to make independent decisions regarding health and education for their families. We need choice in schools and money following the student.
  • The US and Oregon Constitutions. I will uphold our Bill of Rights.
  • Safe communities.
  • Fair and friendly business policies that support small businesses.

I would be honored to earn your vote.

WASHINGTON COUNTY DESERVES A STATE SENATOR WHO WILL LISTEN TO OUR NEIGHBORS & VOTE FOR OUR COMMUNITY!

As an immigrant from Spain who came to America as a child, I am grateful every day to be an American and for the freedoms we have that others around the globe don’t.

That’s why it has been so disappointing to see lawmakers in Oregon vote to make our communities less safe, schools less accountable for educational outcomes, and to hurt small businesses with government mandates.

As a small business owner, I know how difficult it is to be responsible for the livelihoods of employees, working to make sure they have family-wage jobs with good benefits. But new laws have made it extremely difficult to run businesses, causing them to take their capital investments out of Oregon.

Lawmakers vote to release criminals early from their sentences, resulting in rising property and drug crimes. Having been personally been a victim of crime recently, Oregon is going the wrong direction on public safety.

And as a mother, I’m concerned that record-high education funding is being misspent. Graduation rates reflect money isn’t reaching the teachers or our kids in their classrooms.

I’m standing up for those of us who are frustrated seeing Oregon’s race to failure. We deserve better. Please join me in electing better leadership in Salem.

I’d appreciate your vote to be our State Senator!

Anthony J Rosilez

Occupation: Executive Director, Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission

Occupational Background: Teacher; School Superintendent; College Educator and Administrator; Attorney

Educational Background: University of Wisconsin-Madison, Ph.D. (2011); University of California, Los Angeles, J.D. (1994), B.A. (1990)

Prior Governmental Experience: Chair, Keizer Community Diversity Engagement Committee; Member, Oregon Board of Bar Examiners; Director, Oregon Educator Advancement Council; Vice Chair, Washington County Commission on Children and Families

PRINCIPLED LEADERSHIP TODAY FOR OREGON’S TOMORROW

Our community is rich in diverse cultures, industry, and economy. A Latino from a blue-collar home with farming roots, and first in his family to go to college, Anthony Rosilez knows the challenges that many struggle with every day in order to put food on the table and “get ahead.”

Do current legislators and candidates truly understand and represent the aspirations of working families? Partisan politics and representing the status quo continue to plague the legislature. Oregon needs diverse leadership that reaches across the aisle and puts our futures before their pasts. Policies are only as good as their ability to be implemented. As a lifelong educator and public servant, Anthony knows what it takes to make policies work. The time is now for Anthony Rosilez to represent District 11 in Salem.

As Senator, Anthony will fight for:

  • Fair wages and workplace protections for all employees
  • Accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare for all Oregonians
  • Affordable housing and a comprehensive rather than disjointed plan to address the root causes of homelessness
  • An education system designed and adequately funded for tomorrow, not yesterday
  • Responsible natural resource use and climate protection for our children and the Oregon they deserve
  • A tax system that addresses community needs while reducing the burden on working families and small businesses
  • Programs that incentivize innovation and are responsive to local communities.

Anthony’s leadership is rooted in faith, heritage, perseverance, and social justice – the leadership Oregon needs today. Thank you. She flies with her own wings!
