VOTE FOR A PROVEN SALEM LEADER
House District 19 is newly formed district. It needs someone who has lived here, who knows the communities and neighbors of the district. And it needs someone who has a proven record of accomplishment working for the people of the district
My wife Jessica and I have lived in the district for 16 years. I’ve headed a neighborhood association and I’ve served eight years on the Salem City Council where I’ve worked to improve the economy and livability for all Salem. As Councilor I have:
- Addressed homelessness in a compassionate and effective way
- Led efforts to create Salem’s Climate Action Plan
- Worked to remove barriers and create incentives for affordable housing
- Supported a successful seismic upgrade and renovation of our library
- Led the effort to ban single-use plastic bags in Salem
- Introduced and enacted resolutions declaring Salem an inclusive City and condemning white supremacy and institutional racism
As your State Representative I will advocate for:
- More state funding for homeless shelter and services
- More state support for affordable housing
- Climate action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions with creative solutions
- Greater support for education to increase graduation rates
- Improved facilities and infrastructure for biking, walking and transit
- State funding in lieu of local taxes to support emergency services in Salem
- Civic and climate curriculum in our state schools
