Having grown up in Wallowa Oregon, I know there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to policy in our state. I believe in local control, because what works for other cities doesn’t always work for Springfield.
During this year’s legislative session, my committee work focused on higher education, gambling regulation, infrastructure, economic development and supporting small business. In addition I continued to serve on the Road User Fee Task Force and the Oregon Cultural Trust Board.
I supported bi-partisan breakthroughs in key areas:
- Boosting homebuilding and investing in residential utility infrastructure
- Giving law enforcement the tools they need to stop public drug use
- Funding mental health and addiction services
- Campaign finance limits to fight big money’s incluence in politics
While I am proud to have worked closely with my colleagues to support these efforts, I know there’s more work to do to tackle Oregon’s big challenges. My priorities remain supporting local government control, building housing and reducing homelessness, and investing in behavioral health and drug addiction treatment.
Going forward, I’m committed to:
- Training and educating our local workforce for well-paying jobs
- Funding quality K-12 education and ensuring kids enter school ready to learn
- Lowering prescription drugs cost
- Investing in a wide range of housing options
- Holding state government accountable and getting the most out of every state tax dollar
- Supporting Oregonian’s right to make their own personal health care decisions
I would be honored to earn your vote once again.
