Prior Governmental Experience: Past Troutdale Area Chamber of Commerce Board, Troutdale Summerfest Director 1996-1999
I am a father, small business owner and business advocate. As a board member of the Troutdale Area Chamber, I was instrumental in helping grow downtown Troutdale and helped found the Troutdale SummerFest. In 1999, I was named Troutdale Citizen of the Year. As a former board member of East County Shelter Projects, I know how crime, homelessness and addiction are affecting our community. I support providing education, resources and safe communities for local businesses and families.
Tackling Homelessness
I will prioritize addressing homelessness and fight the takeover of public spaces like the 1000 Acres park. We should also focus on supporting families and kids with local community organizations.
Combating Crime and Drug Abuse
I’ve had to deal with these issues in my own neighborhood, in my front yard. My daughter moved out of state because of crime. I’m committed to finding community -based solutions to this enormous problem.
Improving Education
We need to improve proficiency levels and reinstate graduation requirements while promoting academics, institutional accountability, and family engagement. I support School Resource Officers to build positive relationships and address underlying issues affecting students.
Addressing Cost of Living
As a business coach, I teach fiscal responsibility, and will bring those concepts with me to Salem. I support policies that ease the financial burden on small businesses and families.
Supporting Small Businesses
As someone who helped lead our local small business resource center, I understand the need to provide training and skill development for aspiring entrepreneurs while recognizing small businesses as the backbone of the economy.
