It is 20 years ago now since Oregon had a thriving economy and a reputation for environmental integrity.
Today, I don’t have to tell you that Oregon is beset by higher costs of living than most other states, higher taxes than most other states, and a deteriorating quality of life.
The crux of Oregon’s decline in the last two decades is a false hope in the state government’s ability to tax, spend and regulate Oregon to a better quality of life.
The truth is that Oregonians have it within themselves as individuals to apply themselves and let their talents and skills drive Oregon to a higher quality of life. (Small business entrepreneurs of all walks of life are waiting to be unleashed.)
The state government needs to allow Oregonians as individuals to become more responsible and accountable, allowing Oregonians to seek out each other – rather than the government – to exchange value in constructive ways.
This is the wonder of collective individual transactions, a network of individual experiments finding the highest benefit with least cost.
If elected I intend to foster the free and unobstructed individual pursuit of happiness and well being for all Oregonians.
