Amber Richardson

I was born in Corvallis, Oregon and raised in beautiful southern Oregon , my family would camp, hunt, fish, and hike. I’m one of three girls; that alone is challenging for some parents, yet my parents and family embraced life. We were taught gun safety at a young age, how to drive a stick and other types of vehicles. Growing up in southern Oregon I attended local schools from elementary to college. After years of working different industries, I earned my LMT ( licensed massage therapist). I have been at my practice over ten years, I’ve moved in the direction of medical massage. Pre and post surgical massage, scar tissue, injuries, and many more modalities. Over the last ten years I’ve watched my beautiful state of Oregon become a different state. From our logging industry and forest management , bills and measures passed that hurt our citizens and their businesses, taxes, and infringement of our rights. I’ve decided to run for Oregon state Governor. My campaign is more of a grassroots style. I have many ideas and plans that will help our state regain its strength from the overtaking. I want to collaborate ideas and be a resource for getting more individuals involved in our communities, and our state. I’m proud to be an American, I’m proud to be an Oregonian. I come from a family of veterans, I’m very passionate about our veterans, and the men and women who are still serving today. We owe it to them, they fought for us, so we could have our rights. We need to stand up for them, so we can keep our rights.

Our Elderly is something not a lot of people talk about, this breaks my heart. Their generations have paid more into our society and are truly left out. More of my elderly patients feel like they are un-heard, un-cared for, and are truly taxed more then most. This is a travesty.

While my campaign is different, all campaigns need money, and I do. I will be spending more wisely and we will be camping when we travel, or staying with friends and family. There is no need for 600$ hotel nights and dinners, if we have to stay at a hotel it will be very conservative spending. Also we are doing a college tour to encourage our youth that they can buy a home or start a business, yet if they keep voting the way they have been then they will continue to vote with their boots. They will not be able to survive, our college tour is about encouraging our youth not discouraging . I’m 36 years old, I have had to work two jobs my entire adult life to survive in Oregon. I want more for our youth, I want them to have a chance. Oregon is at a crossroads, it is a make it or break it moment.

So I have a huge college tour coming up, it starts February 9th 2022! I’m so very excited about this tour for a few reasons. One I went to college right out of high school not knowing what I wanted to do, I racked up a huge student loan, was working two jobs, and put myself under a lot of stress. So I guess you could say I relate a lot with what college today students feel more than what their parents felt when they went to school. Two when I finally went to a trade school about five years later, I was able to get a degree, and a trade at the same time at a community college which was way less than the university I went to when I first went to college. I’m not against college at all, I’am for a higher education. Yet I do have some different ideas on how to better prepare our students than what they offer now. Trade schools are an amazing opportunity, yet there is zero funding programs truly that are worth your while. Three the youth tour is important to get our youth involved in our politics and our constitutional rights. I want our youth to have a successful chance at adult hood in an encouraging way not discouraging. We need young adults in trade, we need more small business, but our youth need a chance, not hurdles thrown at them.

Patrick Starnes

Occupation: Starnes has worked as a freelance cabinetmaker for over 30 years. Currently, he and his wife make their living restoring old homes.

Occupational Background: Besides furniture-making, Starnes also worked as a truck driver, bartender, and teaching assistant.

Educational Background: Starnes graduated from the University of Oregon with a degree in History.

Prior Governmental Experience: Starnes has over ten years of experience as an elected school board member. He has served on the Soil and Water District, Roseburg City Parks Commission, City Budget committee, and on the board of Umpqua Watersheds fighting for old-growth.

GET BIG MONEY OUT OF POLITICS:

Oregonians know that big money is corrupting our democracy. Starnes is the only candidate for governor who is taking no corporate dollars and no PAC money. His loyalty is to the people of Oregon, not wealthy interests. He was instrumental in getting Campaign Finance Reform on the ballot in 2020. He promises to set campaign contribution limits in his first 100 days.

OHP FOR ALL:

Starnes is the only candidate for governor calling for universal, single-payer healthcare by improving and expanding OHP to all Oregonians. OHP4All would be funded by a wealth tax on the largest corporations and on junk food producers who contribute to poor health outcomes.

HOUSING AND EQUITY:

By creating the Oregon Shelter Fund, we can tackle the housing crisis and the state can finally use matching local and federal dollars to provide affordable housing and vital services. Revenue will be generated from a Vacancy Fee on abandoned homes, often held by out-of-state banks who use them as tax write-offs.

Starnes will promote Inclusion & Diversity with effective legislation to advance equity to all regardless of race, ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or economic status.

WILDFIRE/CLIMATE:

Climate change is happening. We must fully fund public transportation that is fast, frequent, free, and carbon-neutral, while protecting carbon sinks such as healthy forests and soils. The time is now!

TRANSPARENCY! TRANSPARENCY! TRANSPARENCY!

Oregon is a mess. Electing another politician will not fix it. We need a CEO who delivers results.

Nick Hess advocates for high-quality education, smaller government, deregulation, fiscal responsibility, support of small business, lower taxes, and freedom for all.

NICK’S VISION FOR OREGON

We must return Oregon to pristine conditions and protect our state for future generations. Nick envisions a state with clean and safe streets, low crime, and a thriving economy with high-paying jobs. With these improvements, Oregon will become a hub that grows, attracts, and fosters the next generation of leaders. That means raising the quality of education in our public schools and ensuring a prosperous future for our children.

AS GOVERNOR, NICK WILL

  • Ensure 100% transparency of state data including: election, budget, healthcare & education.
  • Decrease government regulation to support economic growth.
  • Fund established organizations and proven models to combat the homelessness crisis.
  • Enforce a zero-tolerance policy for violent crimes.
  • Hire and train high-quality law enforcement.
  • Fight for parents’ right to take ownership over their child’s education.
  • Modernize Oregon’s digital infrastructure.

“Nick reminds me of my uncle Vic. The Republican party didn’t support his run in 1978 against established politicians but ran anyway and won because he knew he was the right choice for Oregon. Nick is what Oregon needs and he has my full support.” – David Atiyeh

As a fiscally responsible, socially moderate Portland native, your vote for Nick gives Republicans a real chance of winning in November. Nick’s campaign is a movement for all Oregonians that will bring us real conservative leadership for the first time since Vic Atiyeh 36 years ago.

But 325 words can’t fix Oregon. Visit votehess.com to see what’s possible.

Timothy Harrold

I am Tim Harrold, and I am working to be Governor of Oregon because I believe the 2 party electorate system is ruining Oregon. I am running as an independent, unaffiliated candidate so that I will work only for the people of Oregon, without owing allegiance or obedience to a national political party.

When was the last time you felt truly represented by your government? Over the past several decades the 2 parties have evolved our political system into a predictable cycle- each election we are presented with candidates belonging to the 2 most powerful parties, who make promises to the people, then serve their own interests instead. Each time, they promise they will be different, but Oregon continues to suffer. If you have been disappointed by the broken promises, if you’re tired of feeling under-represented, then you know that it’s time to elect people, not politicians.

Betsy Johnson

Betsy Johnson is running for Governor as an independent leader unaffiliated with any party and loyal only to the people of Oregon.

She believes only Oregonians – not the broken political parties – can rescue our state from the failures of Kate Brown, Ted Wheeler and Tina Kotek. As Governor, Betsy will force to the two parties to work together to find common-sense solutions to the problems facing everyday Oregonians. Without a partisan primary election, Betsy will be placed on the November ballot by the power of 25,000 signatures from Oregon voters collected from June 1 to August 15.

While Betsy has given up her party label, her bedrock values have not changed. For the past twenty years, she has been an independent-mind pro-jobs, pro-choice Democrat proudly serving the people and communities of Northwest Oregon in the Oregon legislature. Betsy is known as a fierce advocate for her constituents, enjoys a mastery of the state budget and has a well-earned reputation as a plain-spoken moderate willing to buck her party to find bipartisan solutions. Some of her proudest accomplishments include the creation of an education and job skills training center in Columbia County, protecting the Metolius River Basin in Central Oregon from development and supporting the Bybee Lakes Hope Center in Portland that is helping people successfully transition from homelessness to housing and independent living.

Before stepping down to run for Governor, Betsy served in the Oregon House and Senate. In her 2018 re-election, Betsy not only earned Democratic Party nomination, but the Republican and Independent Party nominations through write-in votes.

In addition to public service, Betsy is a licensed commercial pilot of both airplanes and helicopters. In 1978, she founded her own aviation business — Transwestern Helicopters. It was flying helicopters – especially over Mount St. Helens before and after the 1980 eruption – that honed Betsy’s ability to focus when the going gets tough. Betsy’s business experience in aviation led to her being selected as the Manager of the Aeronautics Division of the Oregon State Department of Transportation, a position she held from 1993 until 1998. In 1999, as Director of Legislative Affairs for the Oregon Pilots Association, she helped pass legislation creating the Oregon Department of Aviation.

Public service runs deep in Betsy’s family. Her father Sam served in the Oregon House in the 1960’s and 70’s and her mother Becky served on the State Board of Higher Education and many other community organizations. In addition to serving in the legislature, Betsy has served on the boards of numerous local, regional, and national organizations, including the Oregon Health Sciences University Foundation, Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, Oregon Public Broadcasting Foundation, and the High Desert Museum in Bend. She is currently on the Board of Visitors of Northwestern School of Law and serves as President of the Samuel S. Johnson Foundation, named for her late father.

Born in Bend and raised in Redmond, Betsy graduated from Oregon Episcopal School in 1969 and earned her undergraduate degree in History from Carleton College and a law degree attending night classes at Northwestern School of Law, Lewis & Clark College. Betsy and her husband John Helm have been married 35 years and have worked side by side in both business and public service. They live in Scappoose.

Occupation: Advocate

Occupational Background: Policy Director, Children First for Oregon; Policy Advocate, Oregon Food Bank

Educational Background: University of Oregon, B.S.; University of Washington, M.A.

Prior Governmental Experience: State Representative (2007-2022), Speaker of the House (2013-2022)

Proven Progressive Fighter Ready to Tackle Oregon’s Challenges

I started my public service twenty years ago at Oregon Food Bank, trying to make things better. It wasn’t just about food. People needed good jobs, affordable housing, and quality health care.

I ran for office to be a force for positive change, fight for our communities, and deliver results for all Oregonians.

As Oregon’s House Speaker, I fought to:

  • Support working families by raising the minimum wage, guaranteeing paid sick leave, and starting a paid family leave program.
  • Address our crisis of homelessness by protecting renters during the pandemic, increasing funding for affordable housing construction, and converting unused motels into shelters.
  • Invest $1 billion more per year in public schools to help more Oregon kids graduate and succeed.
  • Fight climate change by putting Oregon on a path to 100% clean electricity by 2040.
  • Keep our communities safer from gun violence by expanding criminal background checks.
  • Stand up against Trump’s attacks on women by passing the nation’s strongest abortion access law, guaranteeing access to reproductive health care for all Oregonians.

I’m running for Governor to tackle our state’s biggest challenges:

  • Reduce homelessness and make housing affordable.
  • Expand access to mental health and substance abuse treatment.
  • Protect the environment and create jobs in clean energy.
  • Fight to protect hard-working families from the rising cost of living.
